Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt has named Aaron Cooper as his office's new director of public affairs.
Pruitt said Thursday that Cooper will help guide his office in the areas of communications, community relations and public affairs.
"Aaron is an experienced and dedicated professional with a strong commitment to serving the State of Oklahoma," Pruitt said. "His knowledge and background in communications and public policy will be an asset to our office and serve him well in his new role."
Cooper has serviced as a press secretary for Gov. Mary Fallin since January 2011. In that role, Cooper managed media relations for the governor's office.
Prior to joining the governor's staff, Cooper served as press secretary for U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn. Cooper also served in communications roles on the 2004 Coburn senatorial campaign and the 2010 Fallin gubernatorial campaign.
Cooper previously owned an Oklahoma City public relations and communications firm.
