Prince William and his wife, Kate, have welcomed a baby boy; a child who is now third in line to the British throne.
The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth Monday afternoon to a boy who weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces. His name has not been revealed yet.
Kate went into labor Monday morning and the child was born at 4:24 p.m. London time, about 14 hours after she went into labor.
An official announcement was then posted outside Buckingham Palace. It read:
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24 p.m. today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.
The announcement was signed by Kate's doctors.
