Police say three separate families showed up to the police station asking about the victim.

Warr Acres Police Chief Roger Patty says police tried to stop a man on motorcycle Friday night around 9:30 p.m. at 42nd Street and MacArthur Boulevard, because it appeared he had an altered tag.

Police say man led them on a chase for about 20 minutes, which ended at a dead end on Morgan Road and 119th Street in southwest Oklahoma City. That's when police shot the suspect and haven't said why.

"It's still too early to tell and there's not much I can say," said Chief Patty. "It's your typical routine deal, where the officer is placed on administration leave pending a review by the department and the district attorney's office so that's where we're at."

Warr Acres Police say it took a while to identify the man since he did not have any identification on him and was on a stolen bike.

Eyewitnesses say the man look unarmed.

"I don't know why he didn't stop, I don't know why or what this boy did, but I don't think he deserved to get shot," said Sherrie Allen, who was at the scene as police pursued the suspect.

Friends of one family in Carter, Oklahoma tell News 9 it is their loved one, a 32-year-old man of Sayre, who police shot Friday.

The officer involved is on routine paid administrative leave. OSBI agents say they have taken control of all the evidence in the case and will begin interviewing any witnesses and other officers at the scene.

Once the investigation is complete, OSBI will present the Canadian County district attorney a comprehensive report. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified.
