The University of Oklahoma volleyball team was picked fifth in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches' Poll as released by the conference Wednesday.
The Sooners finished 10-6 in the Big 12 last year and are coming off their fourth straight NCAA Tournament. Overall, OU posted a 22-11 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) was named a unanimous All-Big 12 Preseason Team selection. Joining McLaurin on the preseason team was sophomore middle blocker Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas).
Oklahoma's season gets underway Aug. 30 against Wisconsin-Milwaukee at the Holiday Inn Wet Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The Sooners' home opener is scheduled for Sep. 3 in a non-conference matchup against Arkansas. The Big 12 portion of the slate is set to begin at home on Sep. 25 when OU hosts Texas Tech.
