Police say a man suspected of stabbing his upstairs neighbor believed the victim was performing voodoo on him.

Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, police were called to Potomac House Apartments in the 2800 block of S.W. 59th Street. Police say the suspect, James Leo Wright, stabbed his neighbor in the shoulder, and hit him on the head with a wrench.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition is not known.

Wright was arrested at the scene and booked into the Oklahoma County jail for assault with a deadly weapon. He also had several outstanding warrants. Police say he may have been high on drugs at the time of the stabbing.

Police have not released the name of the victim.
