A University of Central Oklahoma student was beaten, robbed and pistol whipped at his northwest side apartment complex, according to Oklahoma City police.

The student says the incident, which occurred at Crown Martin Park, could and should have been prevented.

Aneel Lakhani says staffers at the complex will not address a security concern. Instead, Lakhani says the complex is wasting time sticking him with extra bills.

On Sunday, police were at Crown Martin Park investigating the home invasion that resulted in a mess of blood spatter inside Lakhani's unit. The complex is located just south of Gallardia Country Club near MacArthur and Memorial. It is advertised as a luxury apartment community.

Lakhani was left with open wounds, fractures and bruises following the attack.

"It is healing slowly … slowly and gradually," Lakhani said.

Lakhani can't even wear clothes due to his injuries. He says two men with masks pointed a gun at him and pushed their way into his apartment as he was leaving Sunday afternoon. At some point, Lakhani says he got a hold of the duo's gun ... and eventually realized it was an airsoft gun.

"At that point, I was like, alright, I'm just going to fight," said Lakhani.

It was a fight that even had Lakhani chasing down the suspects in a moving car, then being kicked to the street, according to a police report. Lakhani admits to having a small amount of marijuana in his apartment, but he says he did not know the intruders.

News 9 attempted to open a gate at Crown Martin Park Thursday. It opened without a code required for entry. Lakhani claims those relaxed security measures are to blame for the crime. He also says he should not be required to pay for the damages caused by Crown Martin Park's negligence.

Lakhani no longer feels safe at the complex and wants his landlord to let him out of his lease early, without penalty. The property manager at the complex would not comment on the issue. Calls to the owners of the property, Leinbach Company, were not immediately returned.

Lakhani says the robbers took cash, a cell phone, wallet, laptop computer and jewelry. Police had not made arrests in the case as of late Thursday.
