There are new details on an armed robbery turned officer-involved shooting down in southwest Oklahoma City Monday night.

We know a store owner and a suspect are in the hospital, and two police officers are on paid administrative leave.

Police tell us they had officers on site responding to a stabbing call around the corner near S.W. 44th and May Ave., when all of the sudden, those officers heard gunshots coming from outside Lucky's liquor store just after 8 p.m.

Police say they encountered the store's owner, 50-year-old Brett Alan Cude, shooting at a car in the parking lot. They say they had no idea he had just been robbed by two men, who were inside that car.

"Any person with a gun that's not wearing a uniform or badge is a threat to police," said Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police say their officers shot at the store owner after he refused to listen to their commands, and that the two suspects who fled crashed into a truck less than a mile away.

"I looked out the window and saw two young men run across my yard going south," said Amy Lowrey, who lives nearby. She says she heard the crash from inside her home. "Police were everywhere!"

Those two men have been identified as 17-year-old Broderick Ransom and 32-year-old Tuscon Redd. Jr. Police say they found near S.W. 46th and Drexel. They even showed up at a man's house.

"They didn't say anything," said John Francis, whose parents called police. "He just lifted his shirt up to show us he was bleeding from his back it seemed he wanted us to help."

John Francis says police found them hiding by his next door neighbor's house. He had no idea what all had happened to the liquor store owner until later that night.

"It sucks that the cops shot him in the process," said Francis. "But they were only doing their job. I mean they didn't know if he was a good guy or bad guy."

The liquor store stayed closed all morning long, but had more than its fair share of visitors.

Jimmie James says Brett the owner is his best friend and defends his actions.

"Yes he protected his stuff and that's the way I look at it," James said.

Oklahoma City police say there was surveillance video inside the store, and they will be reviewing it during their internal investigation.

Both the store owner and one of the suspects are in the hospital recovering from multiple gunshots.

Police have identified the officers involved in the shooting as Sgt. Cody Koelsch, a 7-year veteran of the force, and Officer Bradley May, who is in the department's field training program. Both are on paid administrative leave while police investigate exactly what happened.

Police say the store's owner did overstep his boundaries by firing his gun at the car in the parking lot.
