A car traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 40 killed one man and injured two others late Friday night.

The wreck occurred around 11.22 p.m. Friday on Interstate 40 and N. Czech Hall Rd.

According to the report, 84-year-old Aubrey Baty of Mustang was driving his car east bound in the west bound lanes when he struck a vehicle in the inside lane.

Officials said Oklahoma City firefighters freed Baty from the vehicle after about 30 minutes. Baty was transported to OU Medical with several injuries. He was pronounced dead just after 3:30 a.m.

As stated in the report, 64-year-old Humberto Ortega Jr. was driving the vehicle struck by Baty's car. Inside was one passenger, 46-year-old Arnesto Sanchez. Both men were transported to Southwest Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

The Canadian County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma City Police Department, Oklahoma City Fire Department and EMSA assisted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with this investigation.
