Spencer police arrest a man accused of attacking a store clerk at the Family Dollar Store.

During questioning, police say Aziz went to the Family Dollar Store located at 8523 N.E. 23rd Street on Saturday, March 22, to find Vincent McPherson, a store clerk that had apparently short changed his girlfriend. Police say Aziz found McPherson on one of the store aisles and got into a verbal argument with him. When McPherson asked Aziz to leave the store, the confrontation turned violent with Aziz allegedly attacking the clerk causing serious injuries.

"It appears the only motive behind the assault on the employee was he short changed the girlfriend," said Chief Virgil Green with the Spencer Police Department in a news release. "Even after the girlfriend returned to the store and was given the correct change by the clerk, and he was aware of that, he still took it upon himself to come to the store and confront the store employee."

Aziz told police he thought the store clerk had disrespected his girlfriend when he didn't give her the correct change back.

Aziz was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on aggravated assault and battery charges.
