Logan Co. Burned Body Identified

The Logan County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation have identified the victim whose burned body was found late January near Langston, Okla.

Officials said the homicide victim is 38-year-old Shawn Luther Masters of Blanchard, Okla.

On Jan. 31, 2014, a body was discovered just south of County Road 75 and Hiwassee Road by a crew battling a grass fire in the area.

According to police, further investigation showed both the arms and legs were bound before the body was dumped and set on fire.

Over the last two months, officials released possible identification information, as well as sketches of two tattoos visible on the body.

Logan County Chief Deputy Richard Stephens said the identification was made by citizens who recognized Masters after seeing reports in the media.

Stephens noted that investigators are now moving forward with the investigation.
