Last month, 56-year-old Lochinvar Caldwell Jr. was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his 15-year-old grandson, Jaquelin Caldwell. Now, Caldwell has been charged with first degree murder, along with four other charges.
On March 21, 2014, Del City Police responded to a report of a fight in the 2700 block of Eagle Drive. Officers said Caldwell acted delusional and went on a violent rampage, assaulting neighbors as he was naked. After Caldwell was detained, his 17-year-old granddaughter told officers her grandfather murdered her brother. Investigators found Jaquelin dead in a bedroom from a gunshot wound.
The granddaughter said Caldwell thought Jaquelin was possessed by the devil. Police said Caldwell may have been on Phencyclidine, also known as PCP.
Caldwell was charged Monday with murder in the first degree, assault and battery for striking Refugio Munoz several times in the head, kidnapping for confining his granddaughter in the residence, indecent exposure and possession of a dangerous substance.
