Oklahoma City police arrested a mother and father in a domestic assault and battery case involving a dangerous weapon and strangulation in front of their four children.
Police responded to a domestic assault and battery call Wednesday night in the 300 block of N.W. 121st Street.
According to police, on arrival at the residence, they found 26-year-old Adam Castillo on the porch with a cut to his stomach and 24-year-old Veronica Carrillo in the yard. Castillo was transported to Mercy Hospital for his wound.
After Carrillo was detained, she told police she and Castillo started arguing about him possibly using drugs in the garage. Castillo began choking her with his hands, but she was able to break free and run towards the garage. She said Castillo pushed her hard, causing her to fall on her hands and knees in the garage. She obtained an orange box cutter and swung it at Castillo, cutting his stomach area. She then ran to a neighbor's house.
The reporting officer said he observed bruising on the right side of Carrillo's neck from the alleged choking incident.
Four children, ages eight, six, four and three, were at the home during the reported assault. Police said the children were released to their grandparents.
Castillo and Carrillo were both booked into the Oklahoma County Jail. Carrillo was charged with domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the presence of a minor, and Castillo was charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
