A new parking ordinance in Chickasha has some residents seeing red.
The new law was approved by city council a year ago. It makes it illegal for residents to park vehicles in their front yards or unkept gravel driveways.
The city said the ordinance is necessary, because other area cities Chickasha competes with already have this kind of law.
However, some Chickasha residents like Harvey Taylor said the law targets the poor.
"Is a city supposed to be lived in or showcased," said Taylor. "This is not Las Vegas! There's poor people living in this town. I'm on fixed income. I'm 70-years old."
City Manager Stewart Fairburn said the city is willing to work with residents. While they've made contact with more than 800 violators, the city so far has only written two tickets.
"We've been trying to deal with it gently," Fairburn said.
