The University of Oklahoma baseball team was held to just three hits in a 9-1 loss to Dallas Baptist at L. Dale Mitchell Park, Tuesday evening. The Sooners have lost six in a row and dropped to 25-21, while the Patriots improved to 29-15.

Dallas Baptist struck early with a two-run homer in the first by center fielder Austin Listi after an error continued the inning. Listi finished the game 4-for-5 with four runs scored.

The Patriots added two more in the third on a RBI triple by right fielder David Martinelli. He came in to score on a sacrifice-fly by designated hitter KJ Alexander.

Oklahoma collected its first hit of the game with one away in the fifth inning as junior catcher Mac James slashed a base hit through the right side. He advanced to third on a passed ball and an error, but was left stranded.

The Sooner bullpen was perfect from the fourth inning through the seventh. Sophomore lefty Jeffrey Curran pitched a career-best three innings as he set down all nine batters he saw, including two strikeouts. Sophomore right-hander Corey Copping contributed a 1-2-3 seventh.

In the eighth, Dallas Baptist added two more runs. Oklahoma finally got its first run of the game in the bottom half. James reached on a two-base error by the left fielder and scored on a single through the right side by junior designated hitter Colt Bickerstaff.

Senior right-hander Kindle Ladd took the loss, dropping to 3-3, in a three-inning start. He gave up four runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks.

Right-hander Joseph Shaw (3-2) pitched six scoreless-innings and saw just one baserunner on the James single as he struck out three.

The Sooners play their final home series of the season this weekend when they host Baylor beginning Friday night at 6 p.m.
