From the beginning, through the devastation and heartbreak, to the relief efforts, we gather today to reflect on the May 20 tornado, one year later.

Today, that bell tolled 25 times. Once for each person killed one year ago. A massive EF 5 tornado hit Moore, wiping out neighborhoods and three schools. State and city leaders honored the victims, survivors and first responders.

One of the areas most impacted by the storm was the Moore Medical Center. Patients and staff were forced to take cover as the storm barreled towards them. After the storm, you could tell the building was a total loss.

Right now, they're using a temporary hospital, but they're looking towards the future. Officials broke ground on the new building today, and they said the $29 million facility is designed with safety in mind and will have a safe room for both patients and staff. It's expected to complete in the fall of 2016.

On May 20, many of the News 9 crews were on the road, heading to the Moore area even before the storm hit, putting them on the ground and in the aftermath just minutes after the storm. One of the first on the scene was News 9's own Karl Torp and photojournalist Andy Hargrave. They went back to the southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood today to see how much has changed.
