Supporters of statewide school storm shelters brought out a strong voice Wednesday at Plaza Towers Elementary in Moore.

The Reverend Jesse Jackson joined other area ministers to announce a statewide petition drive.

The goal is to get 160,000 signatures in the next 90 days. That would ensure a half-billion dollar bond issue will be on the November ballot. It would make storm shelters mandatory in all Oklahoma public schools.

"I'm not an outsider, I'm an American," said Reverend Jackson Wednesday. "It's not about republicans. It's about the republic. It's not about democrats. It's about democracy."

The new Plaza Towers Elementary is scheduled to re-open this Fall.
