OKC Energy FC played the first of back-to-back matches Friday evening and drew 2-2 with the Wilmington Hammerheads. Energy FC's first tie of the season moved the team's record to 3-7-1, while Wilmington moved to 5-1-3.
Energy FC controlled the first 10 minutes of the contest, pressuring Wilmington goalkeeper Quillan Roberts, but it was the Hammerheads who turned the tables in the final 10 minutes of the half. Samuel Ochoa's fourth goal of the season came in the 45th minute to give the Hammerheads a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Energy FC had its first scoring chance of the second half in the 49th minute as Paul Wyatt earned a corner kick and Adda Djeziri's line drive was headed out by Michael Thomas. OKC got the equalizer a minute later as Philip Lund chipped the ball over Roberts to tie the game 1-1.
Wilmington regained the lead in the 65th minute as Tom Parratt scored off a flurry in front of Energy FC goalkeeper Jon Kempin. The Hammerheads were unable to keep the lead as Kyle Greig continued his scoring streak with his fourth of the season in the 78th minute.
Energy FC returns to action Saturday evening at 6 p.m. CT against the Charlotte Eagles at the Queens Sports Complex in Charlotte.
