Ginger Simple Syrup:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
2 Tbsp. fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
For the Lemonade:
3 cups water
3 black tea bags
1-1/3 cups Ginger Simple Syrup
Juice of 4 lemons
Lemon slices, for garnish, optional
Make the Ginger Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, over medium heat, combine the sugar, water and ginger. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Do not over boil! Remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool completely. Strain before using.
In a glass bowl, heat 2 cups water for 6 minutes with the tea bags. Allow the tea to cool and then remove the tea bags. Add 1 1/3 Ginger syrup, lemon juice, and 1 cup water. In a large container or pitcher fill with ice and then pour the tea mixture over the ice and serve with a slice of lemon!
