An Aug. 15 preliminary hearing has been scheduled for an Oklahoma City man charged with trying to hire a co-worker to kill his pregnant girlfriend.

The hearing for 30-year-old Preston Rhoads is to determine whether there is enough evidence to try Rhoads on two counts of solicitation to commit murder and two counts of attempting to kill another person.

Rhoads has pleaded not guilty to all four charges. He remains jailed without bond and The Ada News reports that his attorney did not return phone calls seeking comment.

Prosecutors say Rhoads asked a former co-worker to help him poison his girlfriend with ricin to kill both her and her fetus. The former co-worker notified the FBI of the alleged plot.
