Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is continuing to look for the owner of a horse, discovered abandoned and severely neglected. Animal control picked up the horse Saturday along N. Anderson Rd.

The brown and white Paint horse is now in the care of animal welfare, where he's getting food and medical attention.

"He's got a pretty low body score. He's got an injured eye that hasn't been treated by a vet, so it's in pretty bad shape," said Tracy Lyons, Unit Operations Supervisor for Oklahoma City Animal Welfare.

Lyons said they get a lot of abandoned pets including livestock. Finding one in this bad of shape is unusual. Welfare officers want to know how the horse got this way.

"Got some pretty distinguishing marks, figured we would contact the media for a little help to see if we can't find the owner," said Lyons.

The horse likely won't go back to that home, but will probably have a new one soon.

A Chickasha man said he saw the horse's picture on the News 9 app. on his phone and decided he wanted to help.

"Lot of animal people don't want a sick or injured animal," said Lyons. "We've had a couple folks that would love to have him and nurse him back to health."

If you recognize the horse please call Oklahoma City Animal Welfare at (405) 297- 3104.
