It was exactly one year ago, when the Shriner Train's annual appearance at Liberty Fest was derailed.
"His truck was gone," said John Lynch, Shriner Potentate. "Trailer was gone, train was gone."
Someone stole the train in the middle of the night, but it was found two weeks later in terrible condition.

"The guy that took it basically destroyed it," said Lynch. "They found it in his back yard all apart."
Lynch and the rest of the Shriners worked together with Unit Captain Calvin Gamble and his crew, to get the train back into shape and ready for this year's Fourth of July.

"It's been a long year. It's what us Shriner's do to get it back together and show kids,' said Gamble. "We like to have fun and help sick kids."
Because of what happened last year with the stolen train, extra security measures were put into place Thursday night.
"We didn't let nobody know where it was," said Gamble. "We kept it under surveillance. I got up a few times to check on it."
