New details are coming to light in the deadly multi-vehicle crash, involving a box truck, that took place in Bethany on Tuesday.
Police arrested 28-year-old Wesley Early, the driver of the box truck, for manslaughter after discovering that he had been driving under the influence. Police say early admitted to taking Methodone earlier that day.
According to the report, Early was driving a U-Haul southbound on Rockwell Ave. just after 4 p.m. when he crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic. Police say early struck several vehicles before colliding with a pickup truck, sending the truck careening into a gas meter and rupturing a gas line.
The crash resulted in an explosion of flames, engulfing the driver of the pickup, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
When officers made contact with Early they noted he was unsteady on his feet, has red, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and slow movements.
Early was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of First-Degree Manslaughter. His bond was set at $10,000.?
