The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the woman, who was found dead inside of her apartment in Garber.
Deputies said Chasity Hancock, 26, lived in the apartment with her 4-year-old girl. Hancock’s daughter was found wandering in the middle of the street near Main and E. Ponca on Saturday afternoon.
Neighbors followed the little girl home and discovered her mother's body. Investigators did not say how the victim died or when she was killed.
Deputies issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, the victim’s boyfriend, Christopher Sparks, 23. He was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona. Deputies believed Sparks was headed to the west coast because he has family in California.
A description of his vehicle was sent out to other law enforcement agencies and he was caught. Sparks is being held in the Maricopa County Jail in Phoenix. His next court date is scheduled for July 22nd.
