Three people were arrested Monday after an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a pickup truck that was involved in a shoplifting incident in Nicoma Park.
According to the Sheriff’s office, the deputy was on the lookout for a pickup truck involved in a shoplifting incident at the Dollar General store in Nicoma Park. At about 5 p.m., the deputy said he happened to see the truck drive over the center line in the area of N.E. 23rd and Indian Meridian.
The deputy stopped the truck and spoke with several people inside. The driver, 57-year-old Gregory Nelson, was driving with a revoked license. The deputy found out that Nelson had been cited seven times in the past for driving under suspension.
The deputy also spoke with the passenger, 30-year-old Shirlene Nelson, and discovered that she had an outstanding Oklahoma County warrant. The deputy said he found a small brown vial, which Shirlene Nelson admitted was the drug PCP, as well as marijuana in her possession.
A third person in the truck, 58-year old Charles Fields, initially gave the deputy a false name. Once Fields’ identity was confirmed, the deputy learned that he had two active Oklahoma County warrants.
Fields admitted to shoplifting detergent from the store in Nicoma Park.
As Gregory Nelson was booked into the Oklahoma County jail, authorities said they found a baggy containing marijuana cigarettes in Nelson’s possession, according to Sheriff’s office.
Gregory Nelson is facing charges of driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, and left of center. Shirlene Nelson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.
Fields was booked into the jail on complaints of larceny from a retailer, possession of stolen property, and obstruction of justice.
