I-35 SB Near Purcell Back Open Following 4-Car Collision

The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Purcell reopened after crews cleared the scene of a multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Purcell reopened after crews cleared the scene of a multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.

According to Oklahoma Department of Transportation, at about 2 p.m., crews shut down the southbound lanes of I-35 at Johnson Rd. near Purcell, due to an accident involving four vehicles. 

Traffic was backed up in the area. Drivers were urged to use Exit 104/Goldsby and SH-24 to avoid the accident area. Northbound I-35 remains open.

Authorities from both McClain County and Cleveland County responded to the scene.  Just after 3 p.m., crews reopened the southbound lanes of I-35 in the area. 

Authorities said they also responded to another wreck near the first crash.
