Quake, Rattle, Roll: 4.3 Magnitude Temblor Strikes Near Medford

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake shook up residents around the area of Grant County, Monday night.

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake shook up residents around the area of Grant County, Monday night.

The quake struck around 9:45 p.m., 14 miles west, southwest of Medford, or about 90 miles north, northwest of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of four miles.

There have not been any reports of damage or injuries at this time, though, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), damage can occur from earthquakes at 4.0 and higher.

Several News 9 viewers reported feeling the shaking on Facebook. The USGS first reported the quake as a 4.0, but later upgraded it to a 4.3.

According to the USGS, Earthquakes with magnitudes of 2.5 or 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans.
