A Lindsay, Oklahoma, man was killed after he crashed his ATV on a county road early Wednesday morning.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the wreck at about 2:40 a.m. on a county road about three miles west and three miles south of Lindsay.
A Polaris Ranger ATV driven by 21-year-old Dalton A. Ernst was northbound on the county road. For an unknown reason, troopers said Ernst lost control of the ATV and it went into a broad slide and ran off the roadway to the left.
The ATV then tripped and overturned, according to the OHP. It landed on top of Ernst after he was thrown off during the accident.
Ernst was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said it was apparent that the crash had happened a few hours before they were notified.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
