A family anxiously hopes and prays for their son’s miraculous recovery after a horrible accident.
Elijah Hedges, 3, is at OU Children’s hospital with severe head trauma. On July 9 in Seiling, the steel ramp of a flatbed trailer fell on his head. The family says the latch locking the ramp wasn’t working properly and may have been blown over by the wind.
“I play this over and over,” said Kayla Hedges, Elijah’s mother. “it’s heartbreaking because there is nothing I can do to help him feel better.”
The parents tell News 9 the doctors do not expect the 3-year-old will fully recover because the injuries are so bad.
“He needs everyone’s prayers,” said Kayla.
The parents have been staying in Elijah’s room since the accident and admit they are hoping for a miracle.
You can read more about Elijah on the Facebook page friends and family have set up.

This week, Elijah is expected to leave OU Children’s Hospital for a rehab hospital. He’s expected to stay there for another 8 to 10 weeks.
