An Edmond Electric employee was killed Tuesday when he was struck by a train near 25th and Broadway in Edmond.

According to Casie Moore with the City of Edmond, 57-year-old Bob Waterson was struck by a train at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, while he attempted to remove his truck, which had been stuck near the railroad tracks earlier in the day.

Moore said Waterson was a Lead Journeyman Lineman, who worked for Edmond Electric for nearly 34 years.

Edmond Electric released the following statement Tuesday night:

“We are incredibly saddened and shocked by this tragic accident,” said Glenn Fisher, director of Edmond Electric. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob's family, friends and co-workers. He was a valued part of our team and this a big loss for many people.”

Moore said an investigation is currently underway by the Edmond Police Department.
