Most of you were working or busy this afternoon when the Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, held a news conference about a growing threat to the United States, and it was very alarming.
He described ISIS, the barbarians who just beheaded an American journalist, as the murderers slaughtering their way across Iraq, the terrorists President Obama called the JV, the Secretary of Defense today called the most sophisticated and well-funded terrorist group the U.S. has ever seen.
Combine that with what was heard on the beheading video, the voice of apparently a British citizen wielding the knife, and now reports that Europeans and some Americans with valid passports to get back into this country have joined ISIS.
Hagel said the U.S. needs to "take a cold, steely look" at the group "and get ready."
How about the administration takes a cold, steely look at the southern border, the U.S.' greatest vulnerability right now, and shut it down. Kids are sneaking through that border, so you know ISIS can.
Military experts say we need to go hard on the offensive and kill ISIS in Iraq and Syria and go on the defensive here at home.
Folks the threat is real.
When asked today if ISIS represented a September 11 level of threat, Hagel responded, "Oh, this is beyond anything we've seen."
