Oklahoma City police arrested a woman who is accused of leaving two young boys in a hot truck on Saturday.

According to police, at about 3 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the report of two boys being locked inside a pickup in the parking lot of a store, located in the 7600 block of NW Expressway. The caller told police it was about 91.8 degrees outside.

The boys, both eight years old, were instructed to unlock the door and get out of the truck. Police said both boys were covered in sweat and they told officers they were very hot.

A woman who reported the incident to police said she had asked the store manager to page the owner of the truck. However, no one came out. The woman said the boys had been inside the truck for about 30 minutes since she found them.

When the children were being checked out by paramedics, the owner of the truck, 57-year-old Anita Edith Watson, came out of the store. Watson reportedly said she left the boys in the car while she ran into the store to get some things. She said she was sick and she did not think about it being hot outside.

Watson was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on two counts of child endangerment.

A mug shot of Watson is not available at this time.
