Oklahoma City police are investigating two armed robberies at Family Dollar stores on the Northeast and Southeast sides.

Investigators believe the two stores were robbed by the same suspects.

Surveillance video and police reports were not available for OCPD to release to the public on Tuesday. Instead, Master Sergeant Gary Knight best-described what happened at the first location, NE 23rd and Martin Luther King around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

"Two suspects walked in and one was distracting the clerk while the other walked in pulled out a shot gun," said Msgt. Knight.

The clerk was described as visibly shaken when talking to officers. She gave a tearful account of the suspect jamming a shotgun into her forearm and forcing her to the ground.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

Within an hour of the first robbery, one suspect walked into the Family Dollar near SE 44th and Sunnylane.

In this case, the victim told police the suspect pulled a sawed-off shotgun on the clerk and said, "Give me your money or I will kill you."

"He could not get the register to open, so he did steal money from a customer's purse inside the store," said Msgt. Kinght.

Both stores refused to release the security footage from the stores in an attempt to identify the suspects.

If you have any information about the robberies, call OCPD Crimestoppers at (405) 235-7300
