Police are asking for help identifying a man who held up a clerk at gunpoint.

It happened at the Prime Plaza discount smoke shop near N.W. 39th Street and N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and it turns out, the convenience store has been hit three times in the past month.

Surveillance cameras were rolling both inside and outside the store during two of those robberies. In one of them, the suspect walked away empty handed, but in the latest one, the suspect took all the money and even disarmed the clerk.

The store sees lots of regular paying customers every day, but recently, crooks have been making regular stops here as well.

Last month, a man wearing a UCO sweatshirt came in demanding cash but had no weapon in his hand.

This past Saturday, a man burst in - armed with a gun - and went straight back and behind the counter. He wasted no time trying to grab all of the cash, while the clerk just stood there.

Even though he was armed with a wrench, he chose not to use it against the gun-toting crook, and the two even got into a struggle over the tool. Once the clerk opens the register, the robber shifts his focus to that and starts grabbing up all the money, all the while holding the gun in his hand.

Police believe the man is wanted for holding up this same clerk on August 25, 2014, and they want to catch him before he strikes again.

News 9 spoke with the clerk, but he was too afraid to talk about what happened since the suspect is still out there.

If you have any information on the suspect, contact Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
