During the month of October, Norman police are planning to concentrate resources along the west side of 24th Avenue between Robinson and Lindsey and W Main Street between 36th Avenue and 24th Avenue.

This area was identified by Norman police as a zone where high visibility traffic enforcement can reduce the likelihood of violations and crashes.

Based on traffic projections, police said they show the probability of having more than 41 traffic collisions in that area next month.

Officers plan to focus on violations shown to be contributing factors to collisions or the severity of collisions. Norman police said those violations include following too closely, failure to yield, inattentive driving, failure to wear seat belt, failure to obey traffic signals and speeding.
