The United State Geological Survey reported an earthquake near Langston Monday at 9:43 a.m. The 3.1 magnitude quake was nearly two miles deep. The quake was reported eight miles north of Langston, nine miles west, southwest of Stillwater and 17 miles northeast of Guthrie.
There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.
According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
