Supporters are holding a basketball tournament to raise money for a standout athlete recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

Supporters are holding a basketball tournament to raise money for a standout athlete recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

Athletes are competing in the tournament this weekend at Southeast High School in honor of Thomas Johnson. Johnson played football and basketball for the school and won several state championships. Johnson also played football and basketball for Bacone University and football for Langston University.

After graduation, he worked in the petroleum industry and was diagnosed with ALS in Jan. 2014.

There are t-shirts for sale, a concession stand and contests at the tournament. It takes place both Saturday and Sunday at Southeast High School beginning at 8 a.m.
