Authorities said several Good Samaritans helped stop a suspect who was trying to rob a man in downtown Oklahoma City.

Authorities said several Good Samaritans helped stop a suspect who was trying to rob a man in downtown Oklahoma City.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, the incident happened on Thursday, October 16 just north of the Oklahoma County Annex Building.

Witnesses told police that the victim was sleeping on a bench when the suspect walked up to him and tried to steal items from the victim's pant pocket.

According to the Sheriff's office, the victim woke up and started fighting the suspect. Several people in the area saw the incident and helped the victim. They were able to call 911.

Deputies arrested the suspect, later identified as 59-year-old Stanley Bruce Roberson. Roberson is facing charges of attempted robbery and assault and battery. He is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on $20,500 bond.
