Drivers are urged to use caution, especially on raised road surfaces like bridges, as there are slick spots on the roads. Crews have been out treating city streets and plows are out on the turnpikes.
News 9 Chief Meteorologist David Payne estimates that the metro could get around one inch of snow.
Snowfall amounts are expected to range from 1 to 2 inches with higher amounts possible north of the metro. Most of that will accumulate from about 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The winter weather should start winding down this afternoon between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the northern third of the state from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Southern Kansas, Missouri and northwestern Arkansas are also included.
Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews are treating slick highways across Oklahoma and will continue to monitor the roads in southern Oklahoma and treat as needed.
Drivers should be aware of slick spots statewide, particularly on highway bridges, overpasses and highway exit/entrance ramps. Drivers who do travel should allow extra space between vehicles, so there is adequate distance for braking in wet and icy conditions.
If you must travel out of state check area road conditions before heading out.
