Oklahoma law enforcement authorities are on the lookout for a Ponca City girl who went missing after a junior high basketball game in Sand Springs, Tuesday night.
A missing person's report has been issued for Kylie Jones, an 8th grader at Ponca City Junior High. Jones was discovered missing around 8:10 p.m. after coaches took a headcount.
The Ponca City girls' basketball team had a game against Sand Springs on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. At the postgame meeting coaches noted that all the girls were present. They were then instructed to sit in the bleachers and watch the boys' basketball game.
According to officials with Ponca City Public Schools, the coaches conducted three headcounts in all, and Jones was not missing until the third and final headcount. The coaches immediately called 911 and the Sand Springs Police Department began their investigation. At this time a missing person's report has also been submitted to the FBI's National Crime Information Center.
“The first concern of the school district is Kylie's safe return, and we join with her family in praying for her safe return. It is our hope that Kylie with contact her family and let them know she is safe and will return home soon,” said school superintendent, Dr. David Pennington.
If you have any information as to the whereabouts of Jones, please contact the Sand Springs Police Department at (918) 245-8777 or Ponca City Police at (580) 767-0370.
