A single-vehicle collision under the bridge at SE 29th St. under Interstate 40 has forced the closure of the some of the lanes on the highway, Sunday afternoon.
Southeast 29th street has been completely shut down because of the accident.
Officials tell News 9 a vehicle crashed into a barrier wall on the bridge over SE 29th St., causing pieces of the wall to fall onto the road below. Due to the damage done to the bridge, authorities made the decision to shut down all but one lane of I-40 in both directions.
According to a release from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), the inside lane on the westbound side of I-40 is expected to be closed for some time on Monday, until crews can the damaged barrier wall.
The cause of the crash has not been determined at this time and the condition of that driver is unknown. A second vehicle crashed on SE 29th trying to avoid debris from the bridge.
