This week is high-time for shipping out Christmas Gifts so they can make it under the tree. There are a few mistakes that many of us make that could cost us money.
Some of these mistakes are pretty easy to forget. Here are some of the top mistakes that USA Today complied.
First, make sure you deliver directly to the recipient. Most websites will know allow you to ship the gift straight to the person you bought it for instead of shipping it to yourself and going to the post office.
Next, make sure the address is correct. A minor address correction caught by FedEX costs $12 and other carriers charge more.
You don't want to leave package dimensions empty. When you fill out the shipping form, most leave it blank and have the carrier fill it out. That can increase your fees.
Also, you can take advantage of that envelope. You can stuff a lot in there, especially gift cards. Plus, you won't have to pay extra to stuff things into a box.
This Thursday, December 18 is National Free Shipping Day. That means most retailers will offer free shipping delivery in time for Christmas.
