Regional Food Bank Of Oklahoma Feeding Children During Winter Break

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is partnering with many other organizations across the metro to feed children in need during this winter break.

The Regional Food Bank is partnering with Oklahoma City Public Schools, Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation, YMCA, Neighborhoods in Action, I Can Family Center, St. Jude Missionary Baptist Church and Urban League, to provide free lunches, snacks, and safe places to play to students.

From December 17 through January 2, any child 18 and under can receive a free lunch and snack weekdays. All sites will be closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Locations include:

· Frederick A. Douglass Mid-High School, located at 900 ML King, OKC 73117. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3:30 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23.

· Neighborhoods in Action, located at 1124 N. Douglas, Midwest City 73130. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site will be closed from December 24 through December 26.

· Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, located at 2808 S.E. 44th, OKC 73101. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m.

· St Jude Missionary Baptist, located at 1001 N.W. 92nd, OKC 73114. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and a snack is served at 2:50 p.m. This site will be closed from December 24 through December 26.

· McKinley Park, located at 1300 N. McKinley, OKC 73106. Lunch is served at 1 p.m. and a snack is served at 3 p.m.

· I Can Family Center, located at 3200 N.W. 48th St., OKC 73112. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and a snack is served at 3:30 p.m.

· Downtown YMCA, located at 1 N.W. 4th St., OKC 73102. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and a snack is served at 3:30 p.m.

· Minnis Lakeview Recreation Center, located at 12520 N.E. 36th St, Spencer 73084. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23

· Melrose Recreation Center, located at 7800 Melrose Ln., OKC 73127. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23

· North Side YMCA, located at 10000 N. Penn, OKC 73120. Lunch is served at 12 p.m. and a snack is served at 3 p.m.

· Pilot Recreation Center, located at 1435 N.W. 2nd St., OKC 73106. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23

· Pitts Recreation Center, located at 1920 N. Kate Ave, OKC 73111. Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23.

· Sellers Recreation Center, located at 8301 S. Villa Ave., OKC 73129. Lunch is served at 1 p.m. and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23.

· Southern Oaks Recreation Center, located at 400 S.W. 66th St., OKC 73139. Lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23.

· Schilling Recreation Center, located at 539 S.E. 25th St, OKC 73129. . Lunch is served at noon and a snack is served at 2:30 p.m. This site is only open December from 17 through 23.

· Urban League, located at 3900 N. MLK Ave, OKC 73111. Lunch is at noon and a snack is served at 3 p.m. This site is only open December 17 through 20.

According to officials, the Regional Food Bank is also providing elementary school children on the Food for Kids Backpack Program with extra sacks of food over the winter break. Through the Backpack Program, children receive a backpack full of kid-friendly, non-perishable and nutritious food on Friday to sustain them over weekends and school holidays.
