Police are on the lookout for an armed robbery suspect who assaulted two female clerks and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash early Monday morning.
The suspect was captured on surveillance cameras around 7:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven, located at 1549 S. Morgan Rd.
According to the victims, the suspect entered the store and approached the counter waving what they believed to be a toy gun and demanded cash. The clerks said the pulled their cash drawers and tried to explain to the suspect that they only have a limited amount of money in the registers.
The suspect went around the counter and continued to demand money from the clerks. Again they tried to explain that all the money they could get was in the registers and that the rest was in a timed safe with which they had no access.
The suspect became agitated and struck one of the women in the back of the head with the gun. He then hit the other woman in the left arm before taking the money and fleeing the store. Neither woman was seriously injured.
Both victims described the suspect as a black male, possibly 30 years old, standing about 5'7” and weighing approximately 200 pounds with his hair in dreadlocks. They described his weapon as possibly a toy gun, tan or green in color, and that it appeared to be plastic with a long barrel.
