Home For The Holidays: OKC Metro Pet Adoption Events

Animal shelters and rescue groups in the Oklahoma City metro area are working to find their dogs and cats a forever, loving home for the holidays.

Many organizations are hosting pet adoption events across the metro.

According to officials with the Midwest City Animal Welfare, the shelter is full and many animals are on the verge of being euthanized. Currently, there are 21 dogs and 10 cats needing homes.

The Midwest City Animal Welfare hosts an adoption event every Sunday. This Sunday, the event will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Walgreens at 15th and Air Depot.

The Shelter, located at 7221 N.E. 36th Street, is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. You can call the shelter at (405)-427-6640.

The Oklahoma City Animal Welfare, along with multiple animal rescue agencies, are hosting the “Forever Home For The Holidays Mega Adoption Event” from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the Hobbies, Arts and Crafts building at the State Fairgrounds.

Currently at the OKC Animal Shelter, there are 99 dogs and 24 cats available for adoption. The shelter is open from 12 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. every day except holidays, at S.E. 29th and Bryant, about one mile east of I-35.

The Bella Foundation is partnering with PetSmart to host an adoption event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the PetSmart on NW Expressway and Rockwell. The organization said more than 25 animals will be at the adoption event.
