Maybe it comes from their innocence or belief in the big guy up north.
But when kids sit on Santa's lap, they start sharing all their wishes big and small.
On Wednesday, Santa let News 9 listen in on what kids are asking for this year.
Twas the day before Christmas, where all through the mall shoppers bought last minute gifts while kiddos waited to see Santa, one girl hoping for a doll.
Santa: What would you like Santa to bring you?
Little Girl: Toys.
Santa: Yeah that would be fun.
Little Girl : Princesses.
The big guy in red was filled with joy to have little ones sit on his lap and ask for toys.
Santa heard wishes big and small. But never think that Santa's heard it all!
Santa: What would you like Santa to bring you for Christmas this year?
Little Boy: An owl.
Santa: An owl? Really?
Little Boy: A talking dog.
For some it was their first Christmas to make wishes or try to squirm away, but you're never too old to talk with Santa, this teen being proof of that today.
Santa: A Longboard?
Santa: Have you been good this year?
It was no surprise to hear all the children answer this question yes.
Santa: Now have you been good this year?
Little Boy: Yes.
Santa: Merry Christmas to you!
Because they know this time of year you always have to be your best.
And while they all promised Santa they've been kind, their parents today had something else in mind. A perfect picture is what they wanted this year squeaking toys and calling their names to bring out the cheer.
As Santa heard the last of the wishes he said before his big flight "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
Santa is making his way across Europe right now with his sleigh filled with toys.
We're tracking him too . Find out where Santa is right now.
