The suspect shot during a scuffle with an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper, earlier this week, has also been named in an armed robbery, according to authorities.

Alva Police claim Kenneth J. Brown, 18, is a suspect in the armed robbery at Jiffy Trip in the 1700 block of College Boulevard, on Dec. 2.

During the robbery, a man wearing dark clothes and ski mask walked into the store, pulled a gun from his pocket, and demanded cash from the register. The suspect took approximately $751 during the heist.

According to Officer William Shahan, surveillance cameras recorded the robbery, but police are not releasing the video to the public. Shahan said they received several tips about Brown's alleged involvement in the robbery before considering him a suspect. No warrant has been issued for his arrest.

A source tells News 9, Brown was allegedly wearing dark colored clothing and had a ski mask in his car when he was stopped by the state trooper in downtown Guthrie, Sunday night.

OHP said Trooper Caleb Swickey stopped Brown for a traffic violation, but discovered a 9 mm handgun on Brown during a pat down. Brown allegedly fought the trooper upon the discovery of that weapon. OHP says Swickey shot Brown in self-defense.

The gun was recovered at the scene and the serial number had apparently been scratched off. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is now processing the gun for identification.

Brown remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Swickey is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
