Preliminary Hearing Set In Tyreek Hill Abuse Case

Former Oklahoma State football star Tyreek Hill is back in court.

Hill posted his $15,000 bail the day after his arrest and returned home to Georgia to be with family. But on Tuesday, Hill was back in Stillwater and in front of a judge to set a date for his preliminary hearing.

Joined by several family members, Hill made his first court appearance since his Dec. 11 arrest. Hill is charged with domestic abuse by strangulation of his girlfriend, who told police she's 8-weeks pregnant.

Police reports state that at Hill's Stillwater apartment he, "Punched her in the face, busted her lip, punched her in the stomach and choked her."

His girlfriend described the altercation by telling police Hill, "Threw her around like a rag doll."

Reports went on to state Hill caused, "Bruises and abrasions to her left eye, left cheek, just under the eye, neck, inside the upper left lip and lower right cheek."

Less than 24 hours after his arrest Hill was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football and track programs.

University officials and football head coach Mike Gundy stated Oklahoma State does not tolerate domestic abuse or violence. Stillwater defense attorney Cheryl Ramsey represents Hill and says she must first attain the police reports and they can move forward from there.

"There are some issues in the case that we need to deal with. Obviously we need those reports to further develop how we're going to deal with those issues. Mr. Hill is maintaining his innocence and will continue to do so," said Hill's attorney, Cheryl Ramsey.

Ramsey will co-counsel this case along with another defense attorney, Roy Copland, from Georgia.

Hill's preliminary Hearing is set for March 9 at 9 a.m.
