The Midwest City Fire Department has responded to an abnormally high number of structure fires since the beginning of 2015.

Fire crews have gone out on ten structure fires within Midwest City's 26-square-mile response area.

Historically, the average for structure fires between Jan. 1 to Jan. 13 is a little more than two.

This year, all of the fires had various causes from electrical to fireplaces. Investigators told News 9 seven of the fires were unintentional, one was intentional, two were still under investigation and two of the fires' causes were considered undetermined after the investigation.

No serious injuries were reported in any of the fires. But those noted were smoke inhalation, minor burns and a firefighter slipped on ice as a result of water runoff, authorities said.

Midwest City fire crews were on scene of multiple fires on Tuesday, so those are not included in the statistics for 2015 yet.
