It was inside a house located on SW 61st Street near Miller Ave. that the 13-year-old girl says she was abused by Becky Truelove and Lisa Vanetten.
The teenager told police she was beaten, tortured and starved by the two women and says one of them was her aunt, while the other was her aunt's life partner. The two were arrested Dec. 1, and charged Dec. 16.
"Oh my God, that woman should be lined up against the wall and shot," said Betty Lawrence, who lives down the street and was horrified by the allegations. "This is a nice street. At least it used to be, but apparently not anymore."
According to the search warrant filed Tuesday, the teenager told police the two would force her to do chores from 5:30 in the morning until it was time to go to school. And then would punish her if she did them incorrectly.
She claims she was forced to eat raw onions, cinnamon powder and shower gel as punishment - and was forced to cook for the two women, but not allowed to eat. She claims there were even locks put on the cabinets and refrigerator to keep her from getting food.
News 9 spoke with one neighbor, who did not want to go on camera, who said the teenager would actually go door-to-door begging for food - and even wrote a letter to that neighbor documenting the abuse and begging for help. Fortunately that neighbor called DHS.
It turns out a teacher at the girl's school also contacted authorities after she noticed swelling under the girl's right eye.
The teenager told Police Vannetten threw her into a wall with exposed nails and even put a gun to her head and threatened to kill her and put her in the wood chipper. She even described one incident where she says Truelove threw her into the garage door, causing a hole, and pulled a chunk of hair from her head.
She says she was hit in the face with a belt, hit in the legs with a pan, and had her fingers squeezed with pliers until they turned black.
Lawrence, for one, will be praying for the 13-year-old girl.
“Nobody seems to care anymore,” said Lawrence.
And that teenager is still in protective custody. Both Vanetten and Truelove are currently out on bond.
