The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) released an update for road conditions in the state Monday evening.

ODOT officials said roads in central Oklahoma remain snow-packed and icy. Conditions are slick and hazardous, and travel is highly discouraged, ODOT said.

Crews with ODOT will continue to salt, sand and plow as long as conditions warrant. Transportation officials said drivers should remain alert to the trucks working throughout the night and morning hours, staying 200 feet behind snow plows.

ODOT officials said because of the continued low temperatures Monday night, drivers should be cautious of slushy areas refreezing and turning into ice.

Anyone planning to travel Tuesday morning, ODOT said, should plan ahead for extra time and take it slow. Even in areas of the state with less accumulation, drivers should remain alert to black ice conditions and cautious on bridges, overpasses and ramps, transportation officials said.
